  • Sending money to a minor

    Hi all,

Basically, back in April during first lockdown I started talking to this girl on snapchat and she said she owed money to someone who is threatening her and asked if I could help with £40. At that time, I was in good financial situation, so I did send her the money. She blocked me right after (yes, yes, I got played, no judging please) and I have not contacted her since.

Today I got a phone call from the police saying they are at my previous address (did not know I moved elsewhere) and wanted to have strong words with me about what was the money for and if it was for any sexual content as the girl turned out to be a minor (she told me she was 19). I told them the same thing - I sent the money because she asked for help and I got blocked soon after and have not contacted her anymore.

So they said "well next time be more careful and do not do stupid things. You can expect a phone call from a different place soon"

Should I be worried? Because, I did not to anything illegal. I sent the money and that is it!
