An acquaintance has been caught on CCTV allegedly stealing 4/6 wooden pegs valued at around £0.70 pence each from a wood supplier on a small industrial estate. The incident took place on a Saturday when few people were around. The person caught on camera alleges that the pegs were to replace some broken ones from a large quantity he had previously purchased from the company, which they knew all about, and he went into their office on the following Monday afternoon and paid for them. The company are not happy that he took the pegs without first asking. However, they do not want to involve the Police or Solicitors. One of the three Landlords who own the site has subsequently sent a letter terminating the person's tenancy. Has the landlord got the right to do this if the company do not wish to pursue the matter further?
