  • Purchased a Faulty Vehicle - Dealership rejecting my right to return the car

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can offer me any advise. I purchase a car on April 30th 2020 and a week later I noticed there was a slight leak in the boot. I took the car to my local garage who inspected the vehicle and confirmed it had been in an accident previously and had been fixed to a very poor standard. He pointed out various faults such as a dented rear bumper bar, gaps between the boot and side panel resulting in leakage and poor paintwork all over the rear of the vehicle. I am disappointed that I didn't notice this before purchasing the car.

The dealership have rejected my request to return the car and said that I visually inspected the car so I should have noticed these issues. I have contacted the finance company and send them the vehicle inspection report, and I have submitted a Section 75 form to Barclaycard who I paid £850 contribution towards the car with. The total cost of the vehicle was almost £18,000 (including a direct debit payment, Barclaycard payment, part exchange of my current vehicle and also a £12000 finance through Blue Motor Finance.

Could anyone offer me any advise on what I can do next and if I am in a position to complain? I am yet to hear back from the finance company or Barclaycard, it has only been a few days but the situation is very stressful and I just want to return the car.

    Thanks
