  • Caught shoplifting but no police called, will I be reported

    Hi
Today I was caught shoplifting a kettle from home bargains worth £22.99. *I was in my car when a member of staff came out and asked me if I had paid for it which I said yes and then immediately admitted I hadn’t. *She called over the manager and someone else into the parking lot.
I don’t know why I did it, I had already bought some things in the store but went back for the kettle.
i showed my remorse and apologised profusely. *They said they wouldn’t take me into the store or call the police but they would be reporting it. * They didn’t take my name but said they had my car registration and that’s all the needed. *Will they report it or was this a scare tactic. *I am really worried about the police following up.
can someone advise if it is likely that the police will be informed?*
