  • Cifas first party fraud marker

I have a first party fraud marker against my name on Cifas and was referred to the Ombudsman by NatWest who gave me the marker. The ombudsman feel the decision is fair even though I told them I did not do it. They did ask me if I gave my online banking details, card or card reader to anyone and I said no. The truth is I did, however I had no knowledge any fraudulent Activity would take place. I went to church with this person and knew them for years and so had no idea they would betray my trust however I felt that the way the situation looked, perhaps no one would believe me. I also did not want to get that person in trouble as I still unfortunately saw them as a friend, however I fully understand the gravity of all that is going on now and I really hope to solve my situation. The ombudsman want a response in 4 days or their final decision to leave the marker on my name will stay and I May not be able to receive any help from them again. Is it worth telling them the truth now or will I come across as a liar who is going back on their word. This happened just 3-4 months after I turned 19 and I started my first year at Northampton university for the 2017-2018 academic year. It’s now my final year and I finish in May and the situation has still not been resolved. I really want to make the situation right as I don’t even know what first party fraud is and I have been going through so much these last few years after being accused of it. Is there anything I can do ? Should I tell the truth or do you think it’s too late to go back now?*
