  • Parking fine letter before claim

    Hi,
I parked at the Queen and Castle pub in Kenilworth 4 years ago and received a parking fine for not buying a parking ticket. I remember at the time not even noticing signage that I needed to buy a ticket and so am presuming that the signs were not clear. I have since ignored letters from debt collectors asking me to pay the fine. It’s got to the point that now I have a letter before claim from Gladstone’s Solicitors asking for payment or they will begin legal proceedings against me and I’ll be taken to court. This letter was sent to my old address. I’m not sure if I should pay the £160 fine or wait and fight my corner in court with my only defence being that the signage wasn’t clear (although I cannot remember how the signs were laid out so it could be that they were clear and I just stupidly didn’t notice it ). Any advise? Thanks!
