  • Charging order

Hi, I wonder if you can help please . I have had a letter today from a Mortimer Clarke Solicitor in relation to an old credit card debt when I was going through a break up with my ex husband. It is from a Cabot financial and amounts to £1300. The letter are wanting a charging order on my house now firstly I am suffering from ill health and going through Chemo for Cancer and secondly did not even know I had a CCJ but I have been suffering from ill health as late. The only credit card I had in the past the balance no more than £500 so i should imagine all the rest is interest and court charges? I plan on getting the CCJ set aside but my question is after researching the internet they can not apply for a charging order under £1000 yet my original debt would be no more than £500 can they include interest to apply for the charging order and court costs for CCJ? I think something court have overlooked?
Please help really stressed about this. Also my house is still in joint names and they have sent a separate letter to my ex but at my address.
