  • NPL and police involvement over theft

Hi I'm not proud of this . At all . But I really need some advice.
so I got caught shoplifting today . Got put in a back room at boots and got given a NPL letter . They also took a photo of my ID , took down my address and took a photo of me on a camera phone. Because the cost of the items was quite high they wanted to involve the police. But when they rang the police the police said they were busy . The security guard advised me that the police would visit me at my home address shortly to take things further. Can anyone shed light on if this will really happen ? Also, the theft happened in a different county to my home address so the security guard said they will get the police to contact their dept. In my county and they will take things over . I left the shop unguarded . I just want to know if this was scare mongering and what to do about NPL? Will the police really come to my home address ?I'm so ashamed.
thanks in advance for any help!
