Any help would be gratefully appreciated. A quick run down of my problem.
Lowells solicitors have given me court papers re an old eOn electricity account. I have took advice here and informed the courts online that I intend to dispute the full claim. I have also wrote to Lowell’s and requested information on the account and the amount owing, in accordance with CPR 31.14 request. I have not heard back about this but Lowell’s have now sent me forms that are prefilled to say that I will go to mediation to settle the matter.
I dispute that I am liable to pay this because a) i believe it was more than 6 years since I have made any contact with eOn, and b) I believe they made a mistake by not realising that they didn’t bill me for 3 years or more because they were billing a neighbour. (They switched meters so had the wrong records and didn’t realise, so I was paying British Gas)
anyway as you can probably tell I haven’t got a clue what I’m doing but have followed the advice I’ve seen here. Now I’m stuck because they haven’t responded to my request so I can’t defend myself and I don’t know what to do about this mediation, which looks like a demand rather than a request. HELP, the debt is £2000 and I’m on universal credit.
