Hi. I have received a Parking Charge Notice from Smart Parking for going over time by 12 minutes. In it they requested a payment of £90, reduced to £54 for quick payment. I was not around to deal with it and so it was quickly followed up by a debt collection letter from Debt Recovery Plus asking for a payment of £160. I have not made any payment nor do I intend to do so. However, I have written to Smart Parking appealing for cancellation and also to the store on the retail park explaining the reasons i.e. My wife was in the store for part of the time and also there was congestion preventing exit from the car park. I am now awaiting replies but not sure of my next move if they uphold their claim and the store do not back me.
