  • Credit Repair Nightmare

    Hello All,

Having recently been refused for a mortgage, I got a copy of my credit report. I was shocked to find a number of entries of which I knew nothing about, namely multiple phone contracts with Three and Vodafone and just for good measure a Vanquis account for £1300! There was also a BT one, which has since been removed after I took the advice from BT. All from 2013,2014 & 2015. Didn't know about them before as haven't applied for any credit or anything similar since 2010. Ironically, I have a mobile contract with 3 anyway!!

    Actions thus far:

Spoke to Action Fraud and got a crime number thingy.
Spoke to BT again, gave ref no. and BT removed the default.
Spoke to Three (x3 totally separate accounts) and Voda - they have point blank refused to do anything at all! Albeit one of the 3 accounts is in a fake name (really obvious) and at an address I don't even recognise in London (I live in the sticks in Leicester).
Spoke to Vanquis - similar to above.

So, in my mind, it's quite clear - it wasn't me! The only thing I can think of that's happened is someone must have used my ID to obtain the phone contracts and get a CC. Please note - In 2013, a case containing my wallet, passport and other ID paperwork were stolen from my car. Yes, I know...But it wasn't on display. Either way I got my passport and DL replaced around the same time.

I have written a letter (template style - just changed the account no's) requiring them to remove the incorrect/erroneous/misleading data and requesting them to provide proof of liability, accompanied by a Section 10 Notice (personalised). Attached to the request I've also provided photo ID (copy - with sig. and driver no greyed out) to prove I am who I am.

I've got to do this for x5 separate defaults of which I wasn't aware, never had any paperwork for them etc etc. Didn't know until the mortgage knock back. It would seem whoever it was used an empty house (3 addresses I don't recognise either) and must have used my address as a previous address or something, I dunno, but either never knew at all.

    Thoughts anyone?

    cheers
    SSP
