mortgage capitilised charges

HI

I HAve a current mortgage with HSBC with aproxy 15 years left on it .. in 2009 /2010 I missed a few payments regrettably after being made redundant by HSBC. Im.. still paying the arears charges .. I've seen a lot about claiming back capitalising charges but if I were to try would that effect current mortgage ?
