Advice please!
I feel like the organisation I work for is doing everything possible to make my life hell at the moment
I am a social worker with 10 years with my local authority. I have acted up as team lead over the past 18 months only to be messed around with interviews and finally not given the job.
A complaint was issued against me a few months ago and I was given a final warning - this ensured I did not get the job
I resigned last week with a new locum post to go to.
I believe that my contract states that my notice period is one month but I was told in reply to my letter of resignation that it needed to be 3 months. I argued that as I was not a manager they could not enforce this. I am still waiting for HR to send my contract
They have still not come back to me to agree to my leaving date - I had proposed leaving this week with holiday allowance included but was told this was too soon and unreasonable
Today I find out that they have a complaint against me which they wish to investigate. It feels like a deliberate attempt to tarnish my reputation and punish me for leaving. It feels like they will attempt to fire me for gross misconduct.
I have spoken to the manager and pleaded with him to just let me go amicably. I have told him that this seems totally unfair and that I am already leaving. I have lost a huge amount of weight and my head is a complete mess. I asked for a compromise on the leaving date. They still want to go ahead with the investigation.
I'm in touch with my Union rep. Should I ask to be signed off sick? Should I still go ahead with the investigation and meeting which may result in my instant dismissal?
