This same teacher encourage his Italian or English pupils to challenge state powers. This would be freedom of speech matter, so if the Italian or English school were to stop the Italian teacher from voicing his opinion, he could challenge the school based on the Human Rights' Act 1998 in England or an equivalent law in Italy. So ECHR is relevant and not EU law. I could say something else but it will only complicate matters. I just wanted to show the difference between an ECHR (convention) human right and an EU right.

The EU DID negotiate so that it as a body was INCLUDED within the ECHR jurisdiction, but it was subject to ECJ approval which failed(do you really want the judgement on this one cos I can get it??)

I am not convinced it is legislation in NZ and certainly not the exchange rate . The fact that good grazing land is plentiful and cheap is the real reason.

British farmers cannot compete with their antipodean rivals on price. New Zealand famously has more sheep than people. Regulations governing lamb production are less restrictive and prime grazing land is cheaper in New Zealand than in Britain.

But whether UK regulation is more restrictive (and therefore more expensive) as a result of EU I don't know but I'd rather it was myself.

I was trying to avoid getting complex ..but the EU has a charter which relates to Convention (ECHR), but EU law and Convention law are 2 different things. Here's another example, take the US' Constitution, the right to bear arms is a constitutional right. So a convention right is the most fundamental right a citizen has in their free and democratic country. EU law relates to movement of people services, capital (financial institutions ie banks) so this is about economics and trade....not human rights' type issues.

You could give me the basic facts and the context, ie how and why did it apply. Or, provide me with the actual case, or give me the name of the case; or the ECJ case number. I can then find it myself that way.
