    Remember folks

Lies , damn lies and statistics

    and

Statistics will confess to anything if you squeeze them hard enough

Both in effect say the same thing, whichever side of the fence you sit you will be able to provide evidence to back up your stance

It is a sad state of affairs when we can not stand by our convictions but I do understand what you are saying and not altogether disagreeing . I wish I was more able to make a stand

Re: EU: - IN or OUT ?? and WHY ??

All I want is bare bones, no airy fairy bloody facts and figures, like inflation what the ell is that?
I need to know who's jobs will go, why we can't trade with anyone and everyone who wants to buy whatever we have to sell.
Why our farmers can not seem to make a living let alone prosper.
Why our steel trade is done and dusted.
Why most of our industry is doomed.
I know all is mostly about we want cheap and the far east can provide this because of the cheap labour etc.
Time we bucked up, took pride in what we can do and have led the rest of the world in the past in doing with lots of industry.
The only way to make our Britain great again is with pride and hard work, not being a member of a club that's doomed.

that's just it, we know we're paying 55 million a day but the subsidies to the farmers are supposed to take that down to 33 million a day..so why then were farmers taking their cows into the likes of Asda in protest. What we need to see is an itemised bill of these apparent returns. Then we'll see who the fat cats really are and for them no longer able to hide anymore behind 'we get returns of 22 million a day' rhetoric...without knowing exactly where this amount goes to.

Do we have the question for the referendum yet?

How binding will it be because generally we don't live in a direct democracy but in a representative one.

I must say that I am worried that we will leave although my euro sceptic mother is going to look to see how it mat affect her grandchildren , she said it doesn't make much difference to her but her Grandchildren will have to live with it

When I hear ill judged and plainly ignorant comments from people , for example about human rights , my blood boils and I want to shake them.
I can however understand how their ignorance arises , the propaganda that is in the right wing press in unbelievable.

Re: EU: - IN or OUT ?? and WHY ??

I want to say this and this is more of a sidebar. The fact that David Cameron has negotiated something like a special circumstance for the UK does not bode well for the future of the EU. If the UK can get what it wants from the EU then maybe other states who do not like something else can stomp their feet and ask for their own special circumstance.
Noah, I understand the issue of the European Court of Human Rights and the difference between that and the EU. Anyone who simply thinks that the European Court of Human Rights is directly an institution of the EU needs to educate themselves. I looked at some cases mentioned earlier. The 92 year old from South Africa who came over here in 2014 with no leave to remain albeit eventually due to newspaper campaigns and petitions, her deportation was stopped.
The Somalian refugee who upped sticks and left Coventry to live in London due to the fact that he wanted to live in the capital. Who was forced out of the £2 million pound mansion due to the benefit cap and now lives in COUNCIL owned accommodation that is valued at £1.3 million. Both may have looked at their Human Rights. The pensioner was not necessarily in danger of death because of violence in her home country. However, in her case, she was born when South Africa was "British" and had direct relatives who fought for Britain in the two World Wars. She has now stayed. I would suggest both cases merited stays on basic Human Rights. Thankfully that has happened.

However, how many cases go to the European Court of Human Rights against the UK and are lost? I do know of one case in relation to family law. YC v. United Kingdom(2012) where it was upheld that the rights to irrevocably split birth parents from their children via Adoption and dispensing with parental consent was not contrary to article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

The UK government does not always lose that argument.

However, I accept that people will have personal experiences about EU migration and the effect on their community and will vote accordingly. I am voting OUT and it is not due to the ECHR but on the grounds that I do not believe that we are better together. I am not convinced.

Lets take the ECHR out of the debate we could as a civilised country have our own CHR if we are out we need an argument based on what we will have after the poll whichever way it goes we could have endless cases from the past put into the debate but that's done with.

Its what we expect in the future that matters IMO we as a Country must have control over our Political decisions by an elected parliament not from an unelected bunch of politicians many of which are anti British and have their own agendas

UK losses more cases than wins was reported few years ago, = which would beg the question = How come 20+ legal minded judges disagree with the Ministry of Justice in the UK. ????
