Have started this thread for peeps to put up any hints, tips, cost cutting ideas for Christmas pressies. The cost of Christmas is a big worry (for me, anyway!!) so if we pool our resources I'm sure we can find ways to make Christmas appear a lot more expensive than it actually was!
Here's a couple to start us off
Get some wicker baskets/boxes/pretty cardboard boxes.
Do a trip to Poundland, or buy BOGOFs from wherever you like
Fill the basket with an assortment of goodies
Wrap in cellophane, finish off with a bow (use scissors to make the ends all curly)
and there you go, looks expensive and a fraction of the price!
You can tailor the size of the container and the type of contents to whoever you are giving it to.
OR
Buy a big tin of Roses/Quality Street/Celebrations/whatever (Roses are on special 2 boxes for 7 quid in Asda atm)
Sort out into batches of chocs, either an assortment, or all one flavour etc
Parcel the chocs into cellophane, stick a bow on, and you have your own personal choccie gift, tailored to whoever you like depending on what sort of chocs are there favourite. (This is a cunning way to eat all the ones you like first, then get rid of the ones you don't like instead of feeding them to the dog!!) This one would be a nice one for giving to teachers, schoolfriends etc, you know, the ones that cost an arm and a leg cos your child has about a million friends that you end up spending a bloody fortune on which you can't afford but you don't want your kid to feel like the odd one out
