Hi
I'm hoping to get some advice please
My husband was assaulted at work by a work colleague, he sustained 3 broken bones in his hand. This is the second time the colleague has attacked my husband, the first time was a couple of years ago, he grabbed my husband and threatened to kill him over a TV programme.
The recent incident involved the colleague throwing heavy laundry bags at my husband, he was asked to stop several times by my husband and a witness, he didn't. A bag with heavy plastic objects was also thrown at my husband and struck him on the head. My husband threw the last back back at the colleague leading the colleague to charge at him, swearing and threatening him, punched him, slammed a metal cage against him 3 times. My husband grabbed the colleague in defence but didn't hit him.
Their boss was informed and he stated it would be dealt with by himself and no one else was to know or they'd both get sacked. My husband stuck to that. It was after this conversation he was admitted to a&e and the fractures were found.
It's alleged a separate colleague was told of the incident and claimed I has demanded police involvement, I did not, and do not even know this person to speak to them, because of this claim the boss referred it to upper management.
My husband was signed off work for 6weeks due to his injuries. He returned this week to lots of rumours, the colleague who assaulted him being very rude and off hand. His work rota had been changed too, his old rota meant he didn't work directly with the colleague at all, he is now paired with him several weeks on a rolling rota, including 6 weeks of nights where they will work along side each other and one other person. We have been told the new rota was taken to the boss and another colleague offered to swap his shifts so the my husband and this person wouldn't be working together at all, he was point blank refused.Today my husband was handed a letter stating he was accused of gross misconduct for assaulting the colleague and could be fired. He is to attend a preliminary hearing soon.
The colleague has received the same letter and contacted my husband via social media to state he thinks they should cover for each other and that he hoped my husband isn't sacked.
I'm very concerned and any advice is most welcome
