You left it too late to sue the MoD over nuclear tests, Scottish veterans told

Mar 15 2012 By David Taylor
SCOTS ex-servicemen who claim they fell ill after watching atomic bomb tests have been told they have left it too late to sue the MoD.
About 70 veterans were devastated yesterday when the Supreme Court kicked out nine test cases.

The men were all involved in Britain’s nuclear weapons tests on Christmas Island in the Pacific Ocean in the 50s and 60s.
They claim it has led to them developing leukaemia, skin cancer, heart disease and cataracts.
Judges voted 4-3 that the cases should be time barred.
They expressed sympathy for the men but ruled they lacked evidence to link their illnesses to the tests. And they said some claims had been made too late.
Lawyers and relatives of the veterans said they would continue to fight for compensation.................
