  • Forced entry, changed meters and took my exisiting meters.

Writing this is disbelief. Any advice appreciated.

Haste Ltd accessed the home and changed my existing meters to smart meters without consent. They acted on behalf of Utlity Warehouse.

The background in brief; the previous home owner had a contract with utiliy warehouse. The current owners have not entered a contract with utility warehouse and had their own watermeters installed on taking ownership of the property. Haste been to property before and sent letters advising they would seek to gain access ignoring the explanation.

Haste accessed the property through the back door when no one was home. Removed and took my "rougue" meters that were paid and safety checked. Installed their own meters.

Lots of questions about whehter Haste have the right to access the property as they did (what processes do they have to follow?), taking personal property and leaving meters without safety checks.

What steps should be taken? The first call was to the police who advised it is in fact theft if they don't return the "rogue" meters. I understand I would need to a deadlock letter to esaclate the issue? The main concern is having someone access the property without any justification as the current owners have a contract for services elsewhere. Biazzare and scary that companies can do this without being answerable to anyone.

    Thanks in advance.
