  • Quite the conundrum with my car finance VT

    Hello.

I'm need of some advice. I have just paid up to the half way point and VTd my car.

I started my finance in 2019. Peugeot 208 active. When I first had the car and got it home, it was missing all head rests which I didn't notice upon signing. The back seats latch was broken and so was the driver seat latch (which leans the seat forward)

I called the dealership right away to get these fixed at which point I was told they would fix those issues and needed bring the car back.

I ended up having to buy new head rests my self and the dealership did Indeed pay for these...eventually.

Once the car was inspected I was told the parts and new seats would need to be ordered.
I then had my MOT with the dealerships garage and they issued me a fail due to the seats latches not working but then also issued me a pass and said bring it back next week and we will have the parts ready. Weeks went buy with no call.

I then decided this car was not safe to drive so I brought a new car with cash.
this was all during the covid pandemic so I gave up calling them.

My Peugeot then sat on the drive for 1 year. Once lock down had ended I started to VT this car. I was told that I would be charged for all the seat issues and that the sales man who u dealt with me no longer worked there and the owner knew nothing of my issues and would not pay for something that I had done.

He also said he has changed his company name and is no longer liable for these issues. We argued for ages and i ended up calling the financial ombudsman who told to deal only with finance company as that is the company I had the car from.

The lady from Auto Accept Finace told me to send all proof that the seats were broken upon sale of the car. Which I did and I have quite a lot of documentation and phone call recordings of these issues.

4 weeks later she called me and explained that the dealership doesn't belive me and i will be charged for all damage to the car.

She said i must pay the half way point and return the car. I said ill pay but will not be returning the car as its not in a road worth condition and i shouldnt have to pay for it to be returned when the only reason i can't drive it is because i was sold this car in this condition.

So I have now paid my full half way point and the finance company are now saying I will be charged for the following.

    Retrieval of the car.

    Back seats to be fixed.

    Front seat to be fixed.

Any other damages that might have occured.

I am now expected a very large bill to arrive at which is none of my fault. I also paid in total £4,300 to drive the car for under 1 year and then had to buy a whole new car just so i had a safe vehicle.

I'm not sure what to do next. Any advice would be welcome.

    Many thanks. Chris.
