Hello Legal Beagles,
After some advice as just received Claim From from County Court Business Center, Northampton - which looks legtimate.
Details for you
- Claim is against the owner of the car - my son
- Claim is for "outstanding parking charge issued to vehicle <reg no> parked at Bridge Retail Park, Torquay. - parking for longer than maximum period permitted
- claim is for 14/12/2019
- solicitors representing are QDR Solicitors Ltd.....
- my son was in New Zealand for several months around this date
all letters to do with this claim have been binned as they look like spam, are from various dubious solicitors and have a threatening tone to them - all addressed to my son
His car was left with me at our home - and we used it at various time - so not 100% sure on who would have been driving it.
So what should we do?
Obviously (to me) it's nothing to do with my son, but want to avoid credit problems for him.
Aware that whoever drove the car that day, may well have not known about parking limits at that location too
So do I a) just get on and pay the fine (now £267)
or b) say I'll admit some responsibility and offer to pay ??? (£100?)
or c) say not paying and write a defence???
what do you think??
thanks in advance,
Jon
