Hello,
I live in an all-bills-included studio in Kensington for 6 months recently.
It turns out the council tax bill was not part of the deal so several weeks after moving out I received an email (on 12/12/2024) demanding £784. I was in the process of querying this when the next day, the 13th, I receive an immediate follow up from the enforcement team demanding over £1k.
I queried this and it turns out they conducted an "enforcement visit" (though I have been provided no information as to when exactly and what they actually did) and they had added £235 to my initial bill for the pleasure of this pointless visit. They knew I had moved out hence the final bill they could present, I don't know what they thought a visit to somewhere I do not live anymore would achieve?
I have paid the initial bill as that is fair enough, I would make it clear I DID NOT know CT was not included and I was never presented with a bill whilst I lived there.
In short I was billed on the 12th, "enforced" overnight and received effectively a £235 fine by the next working day. This seems unreasonable.
Do I have grounds to dispute or complain?
Any help much appreciated.
