  • Mortgage company/bankrupt

Hi , a friend of mine was in a common law relationship, which included a joint mortgage, the relationship ended over 3 years ago, my friend went bankrupt, and the mortgage details were included in this process.
she recently found out she was still on the mortgage contract, and wrote to Northern Rock to ask to be removed from the contract, which they refused:
    A) can they do this?
    B) If No how would she go about getting herself removed from the contract?
    C) If yes is there a process by which she can make them remove her?, as the other person on the mortgage has threatend to run up arrears and disappear.
    Many thanks.
