Hi all
I was, until recently, a member of a sports club. I've had something of a falling out with the current committee - I raised safety concerns they did not wish to deal with - and they have made it quite clear they would like me to leave.
Extremely conveniently, a club member raised an allegation against me, dating back quite some years. There is zero evidence either way - the allegation is utterly false and it is simply their word against mine - but the committee has found against me. I have no wish to remain a member of this club and have resigned.
However I remain active in the sport, in the wider community. The committee has told me that they intend to keep a copy of their finding against me on file and pass it down to all future committees, in case I ever tried to rejoin the club. I'm not very happy about this - it means that, for the rest of my life, these false allegations will be read by a new audience every year.
I am 99% sure that the club will not have had any GDPR privacy policy in place - it is quite shambolically run. I have asked to see their privacy policy and, after a suspiciously long wait, was given a document dated 2018. I remain good friends with several committee members from that period and am just checking that they did not, in fact, write this policy back then.
My question: if it is the case that there was not any compliance with GDPR documentation at the time I resigned from the club, can I insist that the current committee to delete their record of the allegation made against me?
Thanks for any help.
