I am wondering if anyone can help here ; it's a bit of a confusing situation.
My sister recently had a victim of impersonation marker put on her credit file ; it was her who made the application albeit used my mobile phone number as hers was out of action. She has since spoken with the provider who placed this marker and they are in process of removing this for her.
Fast forward a few days later, I receive a letter from Lloyds Bank stating that a recent risk assessment on my account highlighted concerns and as a result we have taken the decision to close your account in two months time.
The letter then goes on to stay that a block has been placed on all accounts to stop transations. If there was a credit balance on the account, I need to go to branch to prove where the funds came from and they would be released.
These were accounts I never used. They have directed me to speak with CIFAS. I'm wondering if with my sister's issue, they believed I was the impersonator?
Since this letter, I have upgraded my mobile phone contract with a new provider and had been accepted for that. I still have my CC's and my main current account with my Overdraft is all still active.
I also today received marketing from my CC provider stating I am pre-approved for £3000 loan with them if I wished to take that out which I don't.
I am a bit confused with this whole situation as I would have thought any CIFAS marker on my name would result in all my accounts being closed never mind being accepted for a phone contract nor the offer of a £3000 loan.
Has anyone came across a situation like this before?
