  • Relocation after separation

    Hi

I currently live with my partner, our young child, and his (youngish) child from a previous relationship. We live close to his home town, family and friends, but approx. 1 hour from mine.
If we were to separate would there be any reason I couldn't relocate nearer to my own home town and support network? I certainly wouldn't withhold any contact between my partner and our son, and I do believe we would be reasonable about arranging childcare, but I'd like to find out if he or his family have any rights to object to me moving closer to my own family and friends?
When this has been discussed in the past he said it would be logical that our child lived with me for the most part, but we didn't discuss me leaving this area. Our child is not yet in school so a change of school wouldn't be necessary.

Hopefully our issues can be resolved and it doesn't come to a separation, but this has been playing on my mind recently and I have been feeling fairly isolated / trapped as a result.

    Many Thanks.
