Me and my partner moved into housing association house together 6 years ago, they convinced me that they would apply solely and then add me as a joint tenant.
finally got round to applying during covid, signed all the documents together, the tenancy agreement allows this if you have lived together 12 months.
due to office closures during covid they first delayed decision due to covid, then delayed decision as they were updating their policies (all this in total took about 18 months from the initial request)
when they finally came back they have said their new policy doesn't allow moving to joint policy, only can come into my name if the other party dies.
I am concerned that the relationship may not last and I will be left with nothing and no home, do I have any recourse based on the fact we applied while the old policy was in place? What would my next steps be? Help needed!
