How do I get an order for the sale of a property

Hello, I'm a new user and hoping you can point me in the right direction.

Having exhausted all means of negotiation with my former partner (we weren't married) I would like a court to order the sale and split of proceeds of our jointly owned property which he's currently living in.

I've read elsewhere that if there are no dependents it's relatively straightforward and as I'm low income I'd like to do this myself if possible. Or if I did use a solicitor, might I be awarded costs?

Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks.
