Hi, it's a bit of a long story. I've been suspended for breach of confidentiality (which I haven't done). I'm a PA to area manager. Basically another employee (my husband) put a grievance in with his resignation against the area manager for sexual discrimination & an equal pay claim. He had his meeting and 10 days later I was suspended for 'divulging confidential salary information for own personal gain'. The manager said that my husband had said in his grievance meeting that I had given him salary info. He didn't say this at all and the meeting minutes have confirmed that nothing along those lines were said. I've now been suspended for the past 17 days and my meeting is next week but the investigating officer is the same person that did my husbands grievance & I thought that it had to be someone with no previous knowledge of the situation? It's a large national company so there are no shortage of managers. I didn't know this manager had been doing the investigation until I got the meeting invite yesterday. A number of colleagues have contacted me to say the area manager has been 'gossiping' about my suspension & it's even been announced that I've left! Even before I've had the informal investigatory meeting and before any opportunity to give my side of the story.
Also, a bit irrelevant but my husbands grievance was rejected. They provided some paperwork to show his salary was the same as his comparator. However as the PA I know they've amended this paperwork and that it's a lie as I know that his comparator & all other females in the same role in the area are on a higher salary & better commission package, but if I do tell my husband that then it would be breach of confidentiality!
But because of this dishonesty it makes me distrust their investigation in to me.
I have no idea what to do, I called ACAS but they are a bit vague with their advice.
Any advice would be appreciated.
