I recently decided to give notice to leave my job. My employment contract states the that it can only be terminated by giving at least one weeks notice for every full year of service by either party or by dismissal for serious or gross misconduct. So I offered 7 weeks notice due to my length of service. My employer said that I should get everything in order and I could leave and be paid up to the end of the month which would give 3 weeks notice.
I am now wondering if my employer would have breached my contract due to the notice period and if so would the restrictive covenants in my contract still apply?
