  • Failure to TUPE.

Hi, I have been with employer for 8 years as office manager, the business was taken over by another company in Jan 2015. There was no consultation with myself or the 1 other employee and we were merely told that nothing would change at our office.

The last few months have been a nightmare with the new company sending more and more work my way and saying I'm responsible for all sorts of new roles i.e making sure additional offices are manned, working at different offices, staff appraisals etc. Recently I was sent a new contract and asked to sign it but the workload and responsibility is hugely increased and unrealistic for one person. I feel my new line manager is a bully, she says the work has to be done at our office at a moments notice and refuses to discuss any issues. She also says if I have any problems with her that i shouldn't discuss them with anyone else but her.

I asked for an informal meeting with some of the directors of the old company (they are still directors of the new) They apologized and said I'd been badly let down and that my line manager basically just does as she pleases despite what anyone says.

I phoned ACAS who informed me to take out a grievance due to a failure to TUPE. I informed the company the next that I was going on the sick due to Stress and today I saw my GP and was issued a sick note for a month. I sent my grievance in writing which they have set for a Saturday morning. I now don't really know how to handle the grievance meeting or what I should be asking for to resolve it. I don't want to work for them and find them very unprofessional in their practices. Any advice please?
