Hi there guys,
i think I have an issue with some recent job promotions that have recently occurred in my job.
Firstly, they were not advertised. A slight re-structure has happened and a few new job roles have been created. These roles were not advertised. Not giving a fair chance to those that may have wanted to apply. Is this against Equal Opportunities? It was quite a surprise and unexpected when these roles and promotions were announced. None of my work colleagues knew and a few of them have said they would've been intereseted in applying. My understanding is that Equal Opportunities means that everyone should be treated in a fair manner.
Secondly, I feel that one of the people promoted is unfit for the role. A second employee who is more suited to the role has been overlooked. One is 24 years old, has been with the company for 2 years, and has a thorough knowledge of the department in which the promotion occurred. The person promoted is 18 years old, been with the company just over 6 months, and has very little knowledge of the role, let alone the company she's working for.
Should I speak to someone about this? If so, what would be the procedure?
Do I even need to worry about something like this?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance 😊
Olly
