  • how do I stand - can they terminate my employment?

I have had my probation extended by 3 months as apparently I have not met the requirements they expected of me. My probation is to be reviewed on 8th September, however I am due to have an operation on 22nd July and will be off work for approximately 6 weeks (my employers knew this when I was offered the job), this has also had some bearing on my performance as I have a shoulder injury which has resulted in me struggling to type etc. Work finally got me a rollerball mouse a month ago but other than this no consideration of my situation has been taken, even though I have told them I find certain things difficult at the moment.

I am on a performance review and have weekly meetings to see how I am progressing, it's not going too badly, but I have a feeling that I wont have improved enough by the time I go off sick for them to keep me. My question is ... can they terminate my employment even though I will only have had a month to "improve" rather than the 3 months I was given? To be honest, I'm not overly fussed if I stay or not, I have given my all with this job, stayed late, worked weekends etc, but it seems that if you give 110% they want to know why you didn't give 115%.

I have a few issues with my boss too, he has to interfere in everything anyone does, and doesn't get his own work done, he then gets into trouble and as the saying goes "sh!t rolls down hill", hence me getting it in the neck over things taking so long to do (one of their criticisms).
