Hi Folks
I'm a newbie here, but having looking through the forums can see you guys have plenty of knowledge, so I'm hoping someone will know the answer to this...
I have a company car (ford Focus) I pay tax on it as BIK and require it for work, I'm a sales rep with a large geographic area to cover. The car is fine for work use and does what I need it to.
However, I'm paying BIK tax on it as it is available for personal use, however, I have 3 kids a wife and a dog. And as my wife's car is only a corsa it means it is totally impractical for personal use. I simply can't fit us all in it!
So my question is do I have any rights to refuse a company car or alternatively am I able to request a more suitable vehicle for personal use as I'm paying for a benefit that is actually no benefit to me at all.
I have spoken to the lease manager who has told me there is nothing else available in the fleet and to ask for a swap with a colleague, but unfortunately no one wants a trade
If any one has any ideas I'd appreciate them
Cheers
