  • New depot move has caused stress and depression.

I've been happily working for a national company for the last 7 years as a delivery driver, my commute to work was about 30 mins each way.
Everybodys circumstances changed when they merged two depots into a brand new facility further away that now makes my commute 1 hour each way.
    I work Mon - Fri 8am - 5pm
They seem to want to get away with using just me as the delivery driver (other similar companies employ 2 or 3)
hence I am averaging 1000 company miles per week and about 7.5 hours driving each day and my delivery area is much bigger. Also my own personal hour commute there and back each day and around an extra 15 miles each way more than I used to.
It seems to have all caught up with me now as my doctor has signed me off the last two weeks as I probably haven't realised the pressure I have been putting myself under.
Question: Do they have to have a duty of care towards me in this situation? Or is it just a case of 'if I cant stand the heat'? and have to now find a job a lot closer to home?
    Thankyou
