  • The Respondent's solicitor would like to increase the length of my Tribunal hearing

Hello, this is my first post and this regards an employment tribunal I am bringing against my former employer.

The Respondent's solicitor has asked (by email) that the Tribunal court increase the length of the hearing from one hour to three. The court hasn't replied to this yet. The Respondent's solicitor has now asked me, if I support their request, to email the court likewise.

The question is, as a layperson, I've no idea if increasing the length of the court hearing could be in my favour or not. Instinctively, I'm feeling that if the other side want it increased I shouldn't! But I also know that's too simple a way to view the matter. I don't personally consider the issue at hand to be particularly complicated.

What is your opinion? Can you even give one without knowing the full details of the case? I suppose it might be impossible for you to, but thought I'd ask anyway. So I'd be very grateful for any response, layperson's or even better, a pro's. I appreciate any advice given to me is offered without liability etc.! Thank you.
