Can i change a court I have been summoned too?

Hello,

Great site by the way, very useful.

My question is simple i hope.

I have been summoned to the county court business center in Northampton for an alleged credit card debt. I have contacted the solicitors acting on behalf of the credit card company and asked for a copy of the original agreement and if there were any payments made by me to this credit card ever. I was read a script and basically told to fill out the court forms.

If i owe the money i will pay, but genuinely know nothing about this card.

My question is i am happy to attend court and dispute this claim, but do i have to go all the way to Northampton to do so. Can i apply to the court to get the case heard closer to my home?

Acknowledge Claim - within 14 days from Service

Defend Claim - within 28 days from Service (IF you acknowledged in time)

If you fail to Acknowledge the claim you may have a default judgment awarded against you, likewise, if you fail to enter your defence within 28 days from Service.
