attachment of earnings

Hi
hopefully I can get some advice. I have been in a lot of debt but thought I had sorted myself out with regular monthly payments. However I received an attachment of earnings letter from Cabot. Mortimer Clarke Solicitors. This went to my ex partners address and only got it through her contacting my son. I haven't lived there for some time
I was unaware of this and need to know my next steps. I have emailed Mortimer Clarke and requested where the debt had come from. My problem was that my debts changed to so many different agencies i didn't know if I was coming or going

Acknowledge Claim - within 14 days from Service

Defend Claim - within 28 days from Service (IF you acknowledged in time)

If you fail to Acknowledge the claim you may have a default judgment awarded against you, likewise, if you fail to enter your defence within 28 days from Service.
