it was European legislation that made section 44 of the anti terrorism act unlawful, same as detention without trial

it watches over governments and unjust legislation

Oh dear, Oh dear, Oh dear....... why are you NOT differentiating the European Court of Human Rights(which Winston Churchill was one of the early founders and one in which we have been a signature to since its inception in 1950) with the European Union.
I'm sorry but I am pro get out of the EU not anti ECHR.........

Can't comment only to say there are more than a few people who are still among us who should not be, it is all because of the EU they can not be successfully removed and who cost US not the EU a fortune to keep.

                European Union

                European Court of Human Rights

You cannot be in the EU if you are not in the ECHR but you can be out of the EU and still be in the ECHR.

European Court of Human Rights is NOT the European Union and furthermore, I would add the EU budget has never been approved. There is a lack of transparency in where the money we send to the EU is spent. If there was better transparency then maybe we might have a better understanding of the EU.

And because of that point, it means that we lack any faith in that institution since it does not come up to the high standards that all people should expect of an institution.

EEC was actually 1957 with the Treaty of Rome.....

ECHR came into effect in 1953.

Let's not try and rewrite history. UK were a founder member of the ECHR yet only went into the EEC as it was at the time in 1973.7
