    Will do, bluebottle.

Meanwhile ... although I can't generate any interest from Trading Standards, it seems that HMRC might want to ask them a few questions!

Go for it. HMRC's investigation teams share intelligence with law enforcement agencies.

        I'll post any developments.
Actually I'm still baffled as to why our local Trading Standards Officers aren't showing any interest in this matter ... in light of the firm's unenforceable terms and conditions; breaches of DSRs; flouting of the Cosmetic Products (Safety) Regulations 2008; the use of misleading advertising; and misuse of another organisation's registered trade mark. (I guess they're just lazy?)

            Good idea QCKate!

Meanwhile, The Office of Fair Trading sent me some relevant info (re: labelling) and advised me to get in touch with CTPA ("Representing all types of companies involved in making, supplying and selling cosmetic and personal care products, the Cosmetic, Toiletry & Perfumery Association (CTPA) acts as the voice of the UK industry").

On their website is a section on "enforcement" (ie: enforcement of the Cosmetic Products (Safety) Regulations 2008) ... and what did this reveal? Voila! ...
"Cosmetic and related legislation is enforced by local Trading Standards Officers (TSOs). For companies operating in more than one area of the UK, contact your Home Authority."

Does anyone know the procedure for lodging a formal complaint about local Trading Standards Officers?

Has your 14 days trial period expired Valerie? If not, there is still time to send the stuff back.
It would be best to 'phone the bank and see what they advise. And be sure to tell them that a great many people have been tricked by the same scam ... yours is by no means an isolated case.
Fortunately I gave DS Marketing Ltd (Deadseakit.com) my credit card details to pay for the £3.95 postage charge ... so when the firm later took £59.95 from my account, the credit card company refunded me: I think the situation is different with debit cards though?

Mine is a debit card, and i thought it was different with debits, but as they are monitoring my account they will check no one has taken or tried to take money out from this company, the lady said is it Deadseakit, they have had other complaints,
So relieved, but i can only see an American address, on the box
However i will email them and cancel ,and hopefully get a retyurn address, thank you for your reply, cant believe i fell for it

Well done Valerie ... It's good to know that you're not going to loose any cash. (How revealing that your bank was already well aware of this scam!)

Hey ... we're rational women, and hundreds of others just like us have been duped by this firm of professional crooks, so don't feel too bad about it! It's a very, very cunning advert that they've devised.

The amazing thing is: D.S.Marketing Ltd/Deadseakit.com have breached a whole range of UK rules & regulations, and yet Trading Standards are unwilling to prosecute them ... this baffles me.

                            The London address is:
                            D.S MARKETING LTD
                            788 - 790 FINCHLEY ROAD
                            LONDON
                            NW11 7TJ

This is the address that the company have registered ... however, they claim that the unwanted products HAVE to be returned to a P.O.Box in Israel!

I have a feeling that this is probably in breach of the UK's Distance Selling Regulations, but when I asked Trading Standards whether I was right or not, they said that they didn't know (!) You might have a better result from your local Trading Standards Officers ... the ones where I live have a reputation for being useless!

No, I didn't send mine back because I only realised it was a scam after the 14 days had elapsed and D.S.Marketing had taken £59.95 from my account. I still have the products ... I didn't use them because there's no ingredient list, expiry date, batch number, manufacturer's name/address, etc. on the containers. (There's a legal requirement for these things to be stated on the jars).
