Hi, we had a major problem with the leaking flat roof on our leasehold shop that the freeholder would not commit to repair. We had the roof overhaul under "self help" after consulting our solicitor.
This meant paying for the roof £5k then deducting from it our service charge contribution of 30% £1.5k and sending the freeholder the bill for the ballance £3.5k. the freeholder then sent us a services charge bill that included the £5k roof works and demanded on the bill that we pay 30% of that again after we had initially deducted it from the invoice and then sent one to them for £3.5k. They then only credited our account for the £3.5k, leaving us £1.5k out of pocket. We have tried to point out the error many times, but they state their response is final and we have made a mistake. what are our options to reclame this amount back?
