Re: lifestyle claims ppi
I unfortunately signed up with Lifestyle Claims in October/November 2010. I received 2x PPI refunds from Natwest and Egg in early 2011 and I paid the 30% charge invoice to Synergy shortly afterwards. At the time I thought it was a bit strange that I was being billed by Synergy but as I had received PPI refunds I was not too concerned.
In August 2011 I received a further PPI refund from LloydsTSB. Strangely at the time I did not receive an invoice from Synergy regarding this payment. Shortly after this I started hearing negative info about Lifestyle. I am still owed £1762.45 (5 payments of £352.49 - 4 on a debit card and 1 on a credit card) for advance payments which I have virtually no chance of getting back. By the end of 2012 I pretty much decided to forget about the whole episode as I hadn't actually lost out too much financially. Saw it more as a lesson learned.
Then in January this year I received another invoice for £374.42 from Synergy for the LloydsTSB refund from way back in August 2011 which I chose to ignore. Since then I received 2 further requests for payment. I have also received paperwork from Synergy asking me to sign their Terms of Business to confirm that I have a contract to continue. Obviously I haven't signed this.
The other day I received a final payment invoice from Synergy threatening me with legal action, bailiffs and a CCJ if I do not make the payment £374.42 within 7 days. Unfortunately I don't have the original paperwork that I signed with Lifestyle Claims in late 2010. All I have is the recent correspondence including the new contract that Synergy want me to sign over to them.
What would be the best course of action? I am now concerned by this final demand especially as I no longer live at the address that Synergy have on their records - I moved to Australia in 2012 although all my UK post is forwarded to me. I'm just a bit concerned that the current residents at my old address my get a knock on the door.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Nick
