    Hi ITUS
Many thanks for taking the time to post and of course we would be very happy to learn of any findings on Lifestyle directors.

Has your son tried claiming back his his payment the made to :lifestyle of £1995 from his credit card provider under section s75 of the consumer credit act as he has not received a service.

Can you also explain how Lifestyle Money - All about debt are involved as Lifestyle Claims are in administration.

If you are contacted by Redhawk or ULL to sign any contracts can you please advise us before signing.

It all seems really odd to me, the way that they are playing it?

No we have never received a bill from Redhawk but the way this one looks it could be from them on ULL paper you just never know!

I kind of thought that ULL were chasing on behalf of Redhawk, rather than the other way round. It seems to me that Redhawk are beggining to realise that they can't get away with invoicing ex Lifestyle clients and are using ULL (at least the clients who's claims were forwarded to ULL) to give the invoices more credence.

Have you ever had a bill from Redhawk?

    Thank you for that.

Can I ask why are Redhawke chasing on behalf of ULL are they one of the same? Or are they getting a cut?

They phoned this morning using a mobile number I phoned back remembering to hide my call id and Redhawke answered the phone!

    Regards

    Re: lifestyle claims ppi

    Here are my initial thoughts:

According to the FSCS compensation notification, the claims were 2 straight forward PPI claims with Norton Finance.

You signed a conditional fee agreement (CFA) with ULL on or around 6 October 2011. In Febuary 2012 Norton Finance were declared insolvent and registered as in defualt by FSCS who then became responsible for any claims.

The CFA allows ULL to charge a success fee that is 100% of their ''basic charge''. The basic charge is defined as ''Our costs for the legal work we do on your claim for damages calculated at our standard hourly rates''. Although it is not clear, the success fee looks to be in addition to the basic charge.

As the claims were simple PPI claims which were never litigated by ULL (which means that no disbursements or court fees could have been incurred) and adjudicated on by FSCS (who themselves state that ''you do not need to claim through a solicitor....'') their fee of £3397.34 plus VAT which can only be based on an hourly rate is clearly ridiculous.

Most notably their invoice is expressed as a percentage of the value of the claim which bears no relation to the charging calculations and conditions set out in the CFA. In my view they are simply attempting to charge the fee that Lifestyle would otherwise have.

Initially I would simply respond as follows:

    Dear Sirs

    Ref no xxx

With reference to your invoice of 13 Febuary 2013, I note that the amount is calculated as a percentage of the value of compensation awarded.

For the avoidance of doubt, the fee conditions of my CFA agreement are to be ''calculated at our standard hourly rate''.

Therefore I would be grateful if you would issue me with an invoice that is compliant with both the CFA and Law Society requirements and details in full the work undertaken and the calculation of the amount based on your standard hourly rate.

Please be aware that if I remain dissatisfied with the content and amount of the invoice I fully intend to take the matter up with the Legal Ombudsman.

By the way we had no loan to repay to Norton as this had been settled already.

Re: lifestyle claims ppi/ ULtimate Law

The letter with the Invoice is from ULL Solicitors VAT NO 944103546 Company Reg No: 06632455.

The Invoice is on Ultimate Law Paper overprinted with ULL Solicitors. Vat No and Company No the same as above. Regards

We also need to see the contract that was signed as to ascertain whether it was to Ultimate Law or ULL?

On the invoice the stamp has been put over Ultimate Law to ULL - so is the VAT number for ULL or Ultimate Law - they may be one and the same but we have to know if it is correct as there is a lot of VAT which cannot be claimed back.

****** I have just checked on the web and ULL is a trading style of Ultimate Law. But it is a bit scrappy from a firm of solicitors to put a stamp on top of a name.

Ignore this, I was looking at the VAT amount. They're invoicing you £4k for an £11k claim.

Could you give me the notification that you had from FSCS so I can see the details please.
