I did tell them I have bits of paperwork (rather scappy) which states the amounts gave them my old address as well which helped, but do not have much else in regards of paperwork as such, but this tells me that because they have located the account numbers, they should hold the info, what do you think?

This is the email below, I will delete the account numbers though.

    Dear Mr & Mrs,

Thank you for your recent communication addressed to the office of our Chief Executive Officer Mr Antonio Horta-Osorio. I have been asked to respond on his behalf.

Having checked our records I can confirm that you have a further two loans that closed in 1997 and 1999. All the other loans you have held to 2001 have previously been addressed. The loan account numbers are XXXXXXXX and XXXXXXXX. However I’m unable to confirm any further information as these loans closed over six years ago.

You have suggested you have paperwork relating to these loans. Should you wish to raise a complaint please forward you full complaint letter and a copy of any relevant paperwork that you hold to assist us with any future investigation.

    Yours sincerely

Excellent work, well done Di.........just goes to show that persistence pays off

Hopefully now you'll be able to make headway with these claims and as always I'll keep everything crossed for you The fact that you've got some indication of the amounts involved as well is good news - I only had the account number and yet have been offered something, so hopefully you'll go one stage further than me!

Regarding my own complaint, I've heard nothing back from the FOS since last week but will report any further developments as and when they occur.

    Good Luck with yours!

THAT is something many, many of us have come to regret as well over the years! I have at least 2 PPI claims on-going where there are evidential problems and I now know to keep everything.

I have been searching high and low, but not much to be found in regards of more paperwork in relation to these old loans.

I can't believe how many loans I have actually taken out over the years, but always remember how very nervous I was with our very first one back in the mid 90's (yeah these ones) and can still remember being told the the insurance was all part of the package.:tinysmile_hmm_t2:

You and me both DS However, from personal experience and from what I've heard from someone else (not on the forum) LTSB at least do seem to have a method of offering to refund a set amount if there is very little in the way of paperwork in existence..........apparently I'm not the only one who has been made this offer under these circs

Di - like you I've searched everywhere for further info on my old loans, but wasn't really expecting to have any luck and I didn't............however the fact that they've already offered me something on one for which I only had the account number and start/end dates is inspiration to try it with the others! Like yourself I cannot believe OH and I were so ready to borrow money back then - well I say back then, but the last ones were in the mid 2000s so not really that long ago :tinysmile_cry_t:

Never again though, that's for sure! Not that any bank would touch us with a barge-pole for lending purposes these days, but that's how I prefer it

I have had 2 recent claims for PPI returned to me by the FOS in as many weeks, one of 'em because Bank A says they didn't sell me any PPI, it was Bank B; and bank B says it is Bank A the new owners responsibility. Di knows all about my Marbles saga!

So I assume then that if we lack paperwork - its possible it will be a offer of a goodwill gesture?

I'm still looking for more paperwork, have another few places to look lol.

Do you reckon this approach would work on charges on an old mortgage? I went down the SAR route a couple of years ago, but as the stuff was very old (about 1996 - 1998) couldn't find anything, although i have to say that C & G, who took over our mortgage after merging with TSB ages ago, were very helpful. We almost got repossessed and were in arrears for quite a while, and I remember there were loads of charges applied. As it was then over 12 years old I gave up, but do you reckon it would be worth a try?

                              Hi Wendy,

It's definitely worth a try, especially if you have a rough idea of some of the info surrounding the account such as account number and dates etc.

Although it related to a much later C&G mortgage (redeemed in 2007), I successfully reclaimed from them during 2009 and received all charges plus interest. It took me four months from start to finish.

                              Good Luck!

I agree with Nellie and think you should go for it.

In regards of C&G I remortgaged from my previous lender Chelsea to C&G arranged through the bank broker, as it was dealt with directly in the bank, it was only until we requested for the SAR they have all the income details a lot higher than they actually were on the mortgage application!!!

There was also a shortfall as well where our overdraft had to be risen to meet the costs!!!
