Hi folks,
I never started a thread about this one for some reason, but some of you will know I've been attempting to reclaim mis-sold PPI on a very old LTSB loan. This loan was repaid in full in 1996 and dates from late 1980s/early 1990s - so you see what I mean by very old
Unfortunately all I had by way of documentation was the loan account number - provided by the bank in a SAR.........bless their little cotton socks - but I know that the loan ran the full term, that there was PPI and that as I was a new Mum at the time and wasn't working it was of no use to me.
Anyhoo, to cut a long story short, LTSB turned down my complaint in 2009 - well actually they kept sending me the wrong paperwork when I did a CCA and denied all knowledge when I claimed it had been mis-sold - even though they had alerted me to the loan's existence!!!
So off I went to the FOS. It was held up 'cos of the JR and only recently the FOS contacted me to say LTSB were going to refund but with no admission of liability for the mis-sell. At that point I thought that LTSB must have kept the documentation for this loan after all - even though this seems incredibly unlikely I know after some 15 years from when it was settled - and as the loan had run full term I was expecting a substantial payout. I asked my adjudicator to provide figures before I would sign the FOS acceptance form - LTSB have done this with my complaints previously - and today I received an email from her saying that as LTSB have no paperwork they are only prepared to offer me 'an average redress amount of £1200'
I guess with no paperwork to support my complaint I'm lucky to be getting anything at all, but as I know that this loan ran full term which was I believe, 7 years, I feel I'm entitled to somewhat more than this
Now, why oh why didn't I keep my old loan agreement/statements for this one, especially when I did keep most of the others
LTSB have said that if I can provide further documentation they will investigate further, but I'm certain that nothing else exists for this one unfortunately.
