Check this out here, of who underwrites PPI and so on, below I also copied and pasted some details of HFC/Hamilton.

    http://www.competition-commission.or...xt/542_2_7.pdf

    29. HFC Bank Ltd (HFC) distributed SMPPI, PLPPI and retail credit PPI though the brand ‘Beneficial Finance’ via branches, and through arrangements with retail partners.
22 On 14 July 2008 it withdrew its single-premium PPI products from sale, and on 6 October 2008 introduced a regular-premium product for customers taking out unsecured loans.
    20
HBOS plc Annual Report and Accounts 2007, pp16–23.

    21
HSBC Bank plc, Annual Report and Accounts 2007, p4.

22It also used to distribute SMPPI, PLPPI and retail credit PPI through the brands ‘Sterling Credit’ and ‘Endeavour Personal Finance’ by telephone, Internet and brokers.

    30. HSBC, M&S Money and First Direct branded PPI was largely underwritten by third parties but a limited portion was underwritten in-house.
23 The majority of HFC’s PPI business was underwritten in-house until the sale of Hamilton Insurance Company and Hamilton Life Assurance Company to Aviva.24 LifeChoices is underwritten in-house.

    HFC Bank

The HFC (or Household) bank is a funny sort of animal- it has a few branches, but it doesn't have current accounts. HFC bank specialises specifically in lending, and does so through other companies you're more likely to have heard of. So if you have a GM Card, Freeserve card or a Marbles Card, HFC are the people behind it. If you have a credit agreement for a fridge-freezer or computer from Courts, Curry's PC World or Halfords, HFC are the people behind it. They also own Hamilton Direct Bank, which is one of those direct loan companies you can call up to get up to £25,000 cash.

All of this is very clever (for them). I know you won't feel sorry about this, but high street banks don't make much money out of us for our day-to-day banking. After all, when you stay in credit, you usually don't pay anything in charges. So HFC is a clever company- they just don't do day-to-day banking, and are only interested in lending transactions- the sort that will make them real cash. The bigger players soon noticed, and in March 2003 HFC was taken over and is now part of the burgeoning HSBC financial empire.
    interesting, thx.
yeah, they also sell a lot of their stuff on as well. like my HFC card to marbles, who deny there being an ppi despite it showing up on statements!
I guess HFC must be to credit cards what GMAC is to mortgages!

Worth a try I think and certainly worth the price of a stamp.

I would also say that you feel that you are being treated unfairly with the round around you are getting as no one seems to be taking responsability.

PF you taken the words out of my mouth LOL, On the bottom of the Endeavour paperwork/letters it shows HSBC as also being a member of the same groups, thank you for also suggesting this though.
Funny enough I have just got hold of the CEO details of HSBC as well so will get on with the letter this evening then, THANK YOU x

    Thanks PF.

Going to give it a shot anyway.
My reason for doing this is in hope they give details of their own involvement of the loan, so with it not being a complaint as such directly to them, its just a dig for info.
I do have an email addy somewhere for these, so will also email them as well.

    Di,

There is is harm at all in writing to HFC in fact it can bring good results as not the same person will deal with it.

    For instance:

I sent a SAR to the Co-operative Bank and was not happy with what they supplied and denied all knowledge of the loan I had in March 1999 so I sent another SAR 4 weeks later and low and behold the agreement turned up.

What I am saying is playing there game and giving them the run around gets results.

So when they start getting difficult like they are here it is time to up the anti but in a nice way

If it is good for the goose it is also good for the gander !!!!!! that still holds true

    Thanks both.

Will have to have a word with hubby and see what he thinks.

I was just thinking by writing a letter though to HFC, they may just come back confirming themselves who was for what and who sorted what, even though we know that, but the Adjudicator could not find the links or relationships as such, if this is in writing then I can send a copy of the FOS.
