In the first instance, you need to speak to the HMCTS Area Enforcement Manager (AEM). If you get no joy there, escalate this to the HMCTS Regional Contracts Manager (RCM). If this becomes unpleasant, come back onto this thread.

Just for reference, who is your local police force?

Hello bluebottle. The bailiff is enforcing a unpaid magistrates fine. I have been trying to ring the court again this morning to ask some questions about my car but it is permanently engaged. I am terrified to stay in my own home because of all of this and find myself going out all day. I will have the money to pay the fine on Saturday but until then I feel like I need to stay out of my home as the bailiff is due any time

What is the bailiff enforcing? It is illegal for any person to levy distress when not authorised to do so under the Distress for Rent Rules 1988. In certain circumstances, it is also an offence under the County Courts Act 1984.

Thank you, I have read through this. I am having the same trouble verifying the bailiff in my case is registered. He does not appear on the register and when I called up they could not ind details for him. The court are unwilling to help when I called then to check so feel like I am at a dead end checking his registration as a bailiff for now. I have today sent a email requesting information of his certificate. I hope to hear something soon

All of which is utter nonsense.

Labman - I did read it on a couple of websites but to be honest I can't remember which ones as I have read so many different articles. I will do a search and see if I can find them again.

Out of interest, what does fmol mean?

That may suggest that some kind person has taken an abrasive cutting disc to it.

If that was what happened, the bailiff and/or Marstons would need to prove that you'd done it yourself (unlikely) or that you'd asked for it to be done (also almost impossible to prove without the testimony of the person who had done it).

I do not have a garage to put the car in.
    Does a friend or neighbour?

Can a woman actually be a FMOL? msl:
