I was actually being helpful to Amethyst, not being patronising. If Amethyst were to go to another law university she'd benefit from what is called collaborative learning, ie the students work together. When I studied a commercial law module with the OU it was apparent to me that there is less support than with other universities. There are no lectures with the OU to take notes - it's all book work and taking notes. The law tutors are available part-time as they're legal professionals in their day jobs. They cannot and will not, tell you how to answer the question or how to structure the assignment. The only way the tutor would answer my questions was if I thought of a relevant analogy. I was responding to JulieM that I was guiding Amethyst how to answer problem questions. Amethyst said to me she got no feedback, so I think what you said to me is rather unfair. If, as you say, I was being superior or felt myself superior, I simply wouldn't have offered my advice. I know that law assignments whether essays or problem questions are demanding, so wanted to help using my own experience. But, whatever.
