          Re: Calling all Cat Lovers

If it were a rat or some other living nuisance then nobody would question it at all. Why are some animals afforded some kind of special status?

          It is a disgusting pest.

I have tried various fruit peel remedies and other types of noxious repellents, many that are little better than the mess left by the cat and I have had enough.

What am I supposed to do? Even if I could trace the owners, based on the assumption that they bear primary responsibility for managing the waste of their own pets, what solution would they provide? Doubtless it would be regarded as unavoidable and uncontrollable cat nature.

I am open to real suggestions, but before anyone suggests anything, please read the thread first.

I gave you a real option and you dismissed it.

Mocha, because it is you, I already checked and my local B&Q does have these in stock and I will go and get one.

If it does not work however, you had better get your thinking cap on...

                phew

heres hoping. I have a cat with three legs and when it was injured it was very upsetting.

If you lived by me I would lend you my dog - It would work - only our cat is allowed in the garden - he scares all others off. And yes I am a very resonsible dog owner - he is shy and only uses one patch in our garden, Very well trained!

Cet how about you get yourself a Cat then you won't get strange pussies crapping in your garden, Cats don't mess in their own garden and they don't mess in another cats garden allegedly, unless you have my two who actually do use our garden.

                              Re: Calling all Cat Lovers

This thread, although started over a year ago, appears to have caused somewhat of a stir recently and I would just like to set the record straight.

I have never stated that I was going to kill anything.

All I said was I was going to shoot it. There is a huge difference between being shot and being killed.

I am not a monster yet appear to have been painted as one who travels around the countryside stamping on kittens.

As a responsible gun owner, I am not about to discharge a shotgun near my house and therefore, the only other thing I could use is my Walther .177 CO2 pistol - it might sting, but it won't kill as it simply does not have the muzzle energy.

Notwithstanding this, birds and animals are protected by law under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and in addition, domestic cats can be classed as property under the Theft and Criminal Damage Acts and consequently it could be an offence to kill or injure these or other domestic animals. The family pet is classed as the personal property of its owner and any unjustified harm may lead to prosecution. Although the cat's owner cannot be held liable for its actions, they could sue for damages should their cat come to any harm or go missing - somewhat one-sided, but that is just the way it is.
