well I'm totally unorganised when it comes to xmas this year...... not even started it yet. Only just managed to get through my youngest's birthday last week. At least I can finally make a start on it now I know we are going to have some money coming in. as for the turkey....well hopefully I won't have to bother as it looks like we will be trecking up to bristol to spend xmas day with my mum, (not a prospect hubby's looking forward to though lol) we should have a housefull....with my nan, brother and his fiancee aswell. kids are looking forward to it anyway and the most stressfull thing i'll have to do all day is drive there and back..lol

other half would be happy with sausage and mash!
    Followed by 4 chocolate bombe's?

I'm sure this happened last year and they said there would be a shortage of turkey's, if I remember correctly they couldn't give them away on Christmas Eve!!!

I have one in the freezer anyway so not too worried.

    Re: FMB Fanclub

There was a guy on the news saying yesterday that the meat from these turkeys is ok and of no danger to us, he said that he could go to the farm involved, and collect a turkey (as long as it had been de-feathered), and then cook it and eat it and it would be fine. He did say that he would have to keep disinfecting his hands, and of course everything that the turkey had been near in the kitchen.

It's just another thing that helps raise the price at this time of year, and detracts our attention from the Gobberment employing illegals, the astronomical price of fuel and other such 'non stories'.

Seeing as I am only catering for 4 of us on Christmas day, I don't think I will be buying a big bird anyway....other half would be happy with sausage and mash!

    Morning,
Just to add a comment to the above horsey posts lol I bet Lugger comes back with all sorts if they send a catologue with his first order lol.

The weather is ok so far today not as cold I don't think.

Not good news for turkeys me thinks a bird flu outbreak being reported, so whatever happens with this expect turkeys to be like gold dust this year and a lot more pricey.
It's something we have come to expect now though , they just can't seem to control these things, even with all their rules and technology.
I could get by without a turkey no probs I only ever buy a crown anyway, don't know what happens to the other bits lol probably best not knowing either.

Jerry destroys stuff too, usually by eating it lol. Have bought him one of those hexagon ball thingys which you fill (or half in his case cos he's a fat git). with carrots and apples or pony nuts. Keeps him amused,(or peed off as the case may be) he kicks it round his stable for ages, even ignores his haynet to play with it. Had it 2 weeks now and its not wrecked yet. I can't believe it lol.

In the sunny gulf o Mexico, just off New Orleans Wendy. Where it rained warm rain this morning, but the sun has come back out. Way too hot though. I think I prefer cold old Aberdeenshire.

I'll let you know what they are like by the weekend hopefully. Although I suppose the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Or in the rubbing of forehead against the stable doorpost, in Pepsi's case. I'm hoping she won't be able to destroy this one as soon as my back is turned.

Sounds interesting LB. Pity they don't do pony size, although our Jerry does have a rather odd size head if you ask me so could get away with it possibly, depending on how far they adjust. He wears a 15" browband, so thats nearly cob size isn't it? Might have one anyway, cos can always give it to my neice for Kruger.
Where are you at the mo then? Or did you tell us in your previous post and I've forgotten??

Totally irrelevant post if you're not a horse person....

been looking at synthetic bridle/headcollar combo's endurance style over here in the states. $34.50, complete with reins and bit (OK they're split reins and western style bit, so you'd want to add your ow). And yes, dollars, not pounds. Me and one of the girls on here have ordered a few to take home with us. Hopefully they'll be good quality, but I'll see when we get into port at the end of the week.

So that's Pepsi's Christmas pressie sorted. I'll let you know what they are like, and if anyone wants one, I'm due back out here just before Christmas, coming back end of January. I think they only do full size though, but Linda says if they're the same make as she has bought before in the UK, they'll be OK for cob size too as they are quite adjustable.

Oh yes please Delta, lets have a look. I need a new table decoration for this year. Have put my usual one away somewhere and can't find it. Cos we got married on Christmas Eve, we didn't have a bride and groom on top of the wedding cake, we had a sleigh with Santa init. And I've used it as a table deco for the last 18 years, so could probably do with a new one now anyway!
